So, I sold the metro almost 2 years ago now! But, I have kept up the chalkboard idea with my new car. A 2000 Jetta TDI. I really reccomend chalk board paint as an awesome alternative to regular paint. Here's a pic:

I am planning on covering a van in chalkboard paint. How well has it held up? Any techniques you care to share?
Well, for a van its going to take a lot of paint. One thing I always wondered about, was how well regular flat black paint would work. Maybe a test area would be in order. I am sure you can find flat black in a spray can for a lot cheaper than "chalk board" paint. For cheap flat black, I would try the closeout stores. Around here, they are Harbor reight, Cummins tools and a few mom and pop places. As far as technique, I tryed the little spray can holder trigger thingy. It didn't work for me as well as just my thumb. I always threw on a latex glove though for easy cleanup. I wasn't too concerned about masking off for the metro, but the Jetta I took my time. They also say that after it dries to cover it in chalk and wipe it off. I think this is a good idea. It seems that if you don't, the first things you write on it seem to "ghost" forever. ANy other specific questions?
